You might think about becoming a Member of "The Jar Society". I just formed it, but there might be other 'Jar Societies" for sure. It could impact your health for life. How? I didn't realize just how much food in my refrigerator was stored in plastic until a completely unexpected cleaning found me pouring everything in plastic into large olive and empty honey jars. Sugar, dates, walnuts, rice, cheese, crackers, cereals, ...you get the idea. Vegetables were placed free in the bin. "The Jar Society". Are you already a member?
Fresh Start with Donna Mitchell is exactly that – a fresh start. I have tried weight loss programs over the years and in most cases have been successful in the loss part – but I have not succeeded in keeping the pounds off.
I am participating in Donna’s Fresh Start programme and have lost over 20 pounds. It has been slow but steady. I’ve added exercise which has helped the loss process. I attended one of her water work outs just this morning and know that will be a game changer for me.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY is the different approach Donna takes to weight loss. She is an excellent motivator and brings the importance of mindfulness into the process. We deal with WHY we eat and not just what we eat. For the most part when I overeat it is driven by an emotional or stress driven situation. I think I’ve probably always known this but now I recognize the hunger related to emotion before I dive into the cookie jar and not after when I’ve eaten too much and am beating myself up.
FRESH START was an excellent choice for me to make and one I plan to keep following. Pat

With over 35 years working in the profession and arena of weight control, it still baffles me how the majority of people enrolled in a weight-reduction program never make the finish line. Whatever that finish line is, it is a personal matter. It may be whittling down to a size 10, reducing to a goal weight, let’s say of 140 pounds on the scale, or reducing overall Body Mass Index and body fat percentages.
Gallant efforts, sacrificial dollars and the latest weight-loss gimmick (and there are so many) still fail to lower the width and girth challenge that is here, it seems, to stay. Sadly, as written in a previous Cayman Compass article, statistics indicate that most people who lose weight regain it.
You do not have to be part of this sad dynamic. It is common knowledge to most of us what to eat and also how physical activity plays a major role in weight management. Most pound-down plans promise astounding results from these two important components, and progressive programs add a measure of motivation and behavior management for a comprehensive and effective approach to healthy weight loss. What lacks in many programs, however, are keys for success that must be developed personally. My own journey to an ideal weight required development of certain character attributes essential for overall success.
One of these success keys is “becoming a finisher,” hanging in through the ups and downs, thick and thin times of lifestyle change and weight loss. Without finishing, the goal is never quite achieved bringing the cycle of weight gain and lost around again and again.
